Minimum Internal Mark and External Mark To Pass 

Minimum Internal Mark and External Mark To Pass the Semester in Anna University Regulation 2017. Anna University semester Exam happens twice in a year. The theory exam or written exam is conducted for 100 marks and the marks are converted to 80 marks and the internal mark out of 20 will be added to it and that will be the students mark for that subject.

Pass Rules Per Anna University

Final Marks = Theory Mark (out of 80) + Internal Mark (out of 20)

Condition To Pass The Semester Exam:

  • Final Marks Should be Minimum 50 Marks
  • Theory mark Should be Minimum 45 Marks out of 100
  • For Internal Marks no Minimum Marks Required (But it will be Very Useful in boosting your final marks)

Example 1 : If You get 45 marks out of 100 in theory exam and 14 marks as internals then your Final Mark is 50 so you get Pass in the semester.

Example 2 : If you get 44 marks out of 100 in theory exam and 20 marks as internals then your Final Mark is 55 But you get Arrear in the semester (Because in Theory mark you should get Minimum 45 Marks out of 100)

Minimum External Mark To Pass or Minimum Theory Mark To Pass

As per Anna University Rule Minimum of 45 marks out of 100 (Excluding Internal Marks) should be secured to Pass the Theory exam and Minimum 50 marks  Internal Mark  .

How to Calculate Minimum External Mark to Pass the Semester

First Know Your Internal Marks

After Knowing your Internal Marks see for it in the first column of the table For

Example 1: If you have got 20 marks as internal then you have to get 45 marks out of 100 in the theory because as per rules it is mandatory to pass and you will get B grade, If you get 52 marks then you will get B+ grade, If you get 64 you will get A grade and if you score 77 you will get A+ grade and Finally to get O grade you have to score 89.

Example 2: If you got 13 marks as Internal Mark out of 20 then you have to score 47 to get B grade. You have to score 60 to get B+ grade. You have to score 73 to get A grade. You have to score 85 to get A+ grade. To Get O Grade you have to score 98 Marks.

Example 3: If You get 0 Mark as Internal Mark then you have to get 63 for B Grade, you have to get 77 for B+ Grade, you have to get 89 for A Grade, you have No Chance to get A+ and O Grade.
