PY8201 Syllabus OBJECTIVES:
To explain physiological mechanism of various organ systems and to explain the pathophysiology of underlying common diseases.

PY8201 Syllabus UNIT I HEAMATOLOGY

Composition and functions of blood, functions of plasma proteins, reaction of blood, coagulationof blood, coagulation factors, functions of bone marrow, erythropoiesis, functions of hemoglobin, blood groups.

PY8201 Syllabus UNIT II PHYSIOLOGY OF MUSCLES

Physiology and properties of skeletal muscle,, smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, Physiology of muscular contraction, excitability and contractibility,  isotonic and isometric contractions,refractory period, tonicity, electromyography.

PY8201 Syllabus UNIT III RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

Functions of respiratory system, role of ciliated epithelium, pleural cavity and intra pleural pressure, mechanism of breathing, resistance to breathing, pulmonary volumes, mechanism of gaseous exchange, control of respiration.

PY8201 Syllabus UNIT IV CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM

Introduction to circulation, functions of circulation, anatomical considerations of heart, cardiac impulse, cardiac cycle, heart sounds, electrocardiogram, heart rate, cardiac output, blood pressure, factors influencing blood pressure, blood velocity, functions of pulmonary circulation, coronary circulation, nervous control and reflex control of blood flow.

PY8201 Syllabus UNIT V ENDOCRINE AND REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

Physiology of Pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pancreatic hormones and disorders of these glands, endocrine control of growth and metabolism; pineal, thymus, testes, ovaries, physiology of reproductive systems, sex hormones, physiology of fertilization, menstruation,
menopause, spermatogenesis and oogenesis, pregnancy and parturition and clinical disorders

CY8261 Syllabus OBJECTIVE

To make the student acquire practical skills in the wet chemical and instrumental
methods for quantitative estimation of nitrite in water, cement, oil, coal, Phenol.

CY8261 Syllabus LIST OF EXPERIMENTS (Any ten experiments)

1. Determination of Redwood / Saybolt numbers, kinematic viscosity and viscosity index of lubricating oils.

2. Determination of flash point, fire point, cloud and pour point of oils.

3. Determination of acid value, iodine value of oils and saponification value.

4. Determination of COD of water samples.

5. Determination of total, temporary & permanent hardness of water by EDTA method.

6. Estimation of HCI using Na2CO3 as primary standard and determination of alkalinity in water sample.

7. Determination of purity of washing soda and strength of a commercial acid.

8. Estimation of available chlorine in hypochlorite solution.

9. Estimation of strength of hydrogen peroxide.

10. Estimation of Phenol.

11. Determination of Calorific value using Bomb calorimeter.

Definition of fibre, classification of textile fibers; polymer and polymerization; fibre production principles – wet spinning, dry spinning, melt spinning, gel spinning, dope spinning; characteristics of cotton, viscose, wool, silk, polyester, nylon, polypropylene; sequence of machineries in short staple
yarn spinning from ginning to cone winding and their objectives.

ME8261 Syllabus OBJECTIVES:

To develop skill to use software to create 2D and 3D models.

ME8261 Syllabus LIST OF EXERCISES USING SOFTWARE CAPABLE OF DRAFTING AND MODELING

1. Study of capabilities of software for Drafting and Modeling – Coordinate
systems (absolute, relative, polar, etc.) – Creation of simple figures like polygon
and general multi-line figures.

2. Drawing of a Title Block with necessary text and projection symbol.

3. Drawing of curves like parabola, spiral, involute using B spline or cubic spine.

4. Drawing of front view and top view of simple solids like prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone, etc, and dimensioning.

5. Drawing front view, top view and side view of objects from the given
pictorial views (eg. V-block, Base of a mixie, Simple stool, Objects with hole and curves).

6. Drawing of a plan of residential building (Two bed rooms, kitchen, hall, etc.)

7. Drawing of a simple steel truss.

8. Drawing sectional views of prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone, etc,

9. Drawing isometric projection of simple objects.

10. Creation of 3-D models of simple objects and obtaining 2-D multi-view
drawings from 3-D model.

Note: Plotting of drawings must be made for each exercise and attached to the records written by students.

ME8261 Syllabus OUTCOMES:

Ability to use the software packers for drafting and modeling

Ability to create 2D and 3D models of Engineering Components

ME8261 Syllabus LIST OF EQUIPMENT FOR A BATCH OF 30 STUDENTS:

1. Pentium IV computer or better hardware, with suitable graphics facility – 30 No.

2. Licensed software for Drafting and Modeling – 30 Licenses

3. Laser Printer or Plotter to print / plot drawings – 2 No.

PR8251 Syllabus OBJECTIVES:

PR8251 Syllabus UNIT I CASTING PROCESSES

Principles of metal casting: Pattern materials, types and allowance; Study of moulding, sand moulding, tools, moulding materials, description and operation of cupola: special casting processes.

e.g. die-casting, permanent mould casting, centrifugal casting, investment casting.

PR8251 Syllabus UNIT II SMITHY AND FORGING

Basic operation – upsetting- flattening- drawing- swaging: tools and appliances-drop forging-press forging.Bench Work and Fitting-Fitting, sawing, chipping, thread cutting (die), tapping; Study of hand tools, Marking and marking tools.

PR8251 Syllabus UNIT III METAL JOINING

Welding principles, classification of welding techniques; Oxyacetylene Gas welding, welding, metal arc, Carbon arc, submerged arc and atomic hydrogen welding, Electric resistance welding – composition, properties and function; Electrodes, Types of joints and edge preparation, Brazing and soldering.

PR8251 Syllabus UNIT IV SHEET METAL WORK

Common processes, tools and equipments; metals used for sheets, standard specification for sheets, spinning, bending, embossing and coining.

PR8251 Syllabus UNIT V UNCONVENTIONAL MACHINING PROCESSES

Need for unconventional – Construction, working principle merits, demerits and applications only for AJM, USM, ECM, EDM, EBM, LBM and IBM.

TOTAL: 60 PERIODS
